These are Laura Blumenthal's campaign pledges:
1) Infrastructure First when it comes to New Housing: People want to live here and we need more family homes. I'll push to ensure that we build the housing we need and that it includes the infrastructure the local community deserves e.g. NHS services, school places, transport and community centres.
2) Backing the Government’s Childcare Changes: Childcare is too expensive for parents. From September 2025 eligible working parents of children aged 9 months to 5 years will be entitled to 30 hours free childcare per week. Parents can't afford for Labour to cancel this. I’ll work with our local childcare providers, parents and the government to make sure this support is working for them.
3) Fighting Crime: The Conservative government has hired 20,000 extra police officers since 2019, but everyone agrees we need many more. If elected I’ll work to make policing a more attractive profession, so we can help drive up police numbers to increase their presence and help more victims.
4) Increasing Pride in the Local Area: Our area is rich in history, culture and green spaces. There are great schools, businesses, charities and health care providers. I will champion its strengths, support its communities, protect the environment and heritage and restore pride in our neighbourhoods and town centres.
5) Supporting Local Small Businesses: Entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy. I’ll work with small businesses in our area to campaign for policies to help them grow. This also includes fixing dysfunctional traffic schemes and tackling anti-social behaviour and shoplifting.
6) Protecting our Green Spaces and Waterways: We know how important nature is for mental and physical health. The environment is important to us all and if elected I’ll work to make our parks and waterways cleaner, more accessible and improve biodiversity. I’ll also make sure housing does not encroach on our green spaces.
