• Co-owners fear the same may happen again and worry about crime not being addressed and eroding the local area.
• They got in touch with Laura Blumenthal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, to try to help raise their concerns with the police and see if other businesses are going through a similar experience
At Christmas 2023, RSK Estate Agents on Kingsley Road in Hounslow was attacked by a suspected pellet gun, causing bullet holes in the glass front. Co-owners Sunny and Raj Kathuria reported it to the police and were told that someone would get back to them. They never did. The business partners are worried the same thing will happen again and criminals can get away with it.
Sunny and Raj contacted Laura Blumenthal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, to try to publicise the problem and take action. She is calling for other businesses which have had a similar experience to contact her, to gauge the scale of the problem and get the issues properly addressed by the police, to stop it happening again.
Sunny Kathuria, co-owner of RSK Estate Agents, said:
“We set up our business in 1994 so are embedded in the local community. I’m worried that crime is being ignored and Kingsley Road will gain a culture of using metal shutters to protect shopfronts. It gives a defensive impression and not the warm community culture we want to foster. But what can we do?”
Laura Blumenthal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, said:
“For businesses to be told that they’ll hear back from the police, but for this not to happen, isn’t the standard of communication victims deserve. I went out with the local police at the beginning of May so respect the great demands on their time, but small businesses are being let down. I’ll be following up with the police on this case and ask other businesses which have gone through similar, to contact me.”
