As the General Election on 4th July fast approaches, Laura Blumenthal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, is asking fellow candidates to join her in signing up to The Jo Cox Foundation's Civility Pledge.
The Civility Pledge contains three main asks:
- Set a respectful tone when campaigning
- Promote constructive democratic debate
- Defend and promote the dignity of others, including my opponents
Laura Blumenthal, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, said:
“The residents of Brentford and Isleworth deserve respectful candidates in this general election. There is too much division and abuse online and in real life and this is why I will be asking fellow candidates to join me in signing The Jo Cox Foundation's Civility Pledge. This will go some way to set a good example to the public during the campaign, and hopefully encourage others to stand for election in the future.”
