When business helps communities…

Since beginning to work at Waitrose HQ I’ve found out about all sorts of brilliant initiatives they do to help communities I’d never heard of before. There’s a long list but the one I was most impressed with at its simplicity and potential to do good was its ‘Secondary Contact’ scheme. When someone orders shopping online they can put a secondary contact who will be called if the shopper doesn’t open the door when the delivery arrives. This is especially useful for families of elderly and disabled people who know the person is at home and may have had an accident. This is such a great idea that could make a real difference. I’m really proud to work for an organisation that seeks to embed quality and social good in whatever it does. More information on the great schemes they run can be found here: http://www.waitrose.com/home/inspiration/about_waitrose/the_waitrose_way/supporting-independent-living.html
