I have been informed by Wokingham Borough Council that the rest of Fairwater Drive’s resurfacing will now take place during the Easter holidays 2016. This is apparently due to them finding more contaminated material than expected and complications with the disposal of this. They are taking into consideration how the road closure will affect schools which is good but it is still disappointing that there is a delay. I’m still trying to find out further details.
I am also disappointed that there does not seem to be a process in place within the Council to let councillors know of delays to major projects in their ward. I had to chase quite a lot for the Fairwater Drive information and am unsure as to how early the Council knew of the situation. A potential process will now be looked into which will ultimately seek to help with quicker communication of news to residents.
